Why am I not getting that text back? Should I like his Instagram picture even though he didn’t text me this weekend? How do I keep up with school, work, friends, AND keep my eyebrows on fleek? How can I control my spending? I may have ideas for any of your questions and/or curiosities.
Hey, what’s up, hello … I’m Emina, your beacon of hope and new best friend. I’ll give you a glimpse of my life so you can feel like you know me a little: I am a third year student at and a double major in Secondary Education and English. Like every other basic girl, I eat more pizza than my body can handle. I watch Netflix for six hours straight, I get my Jimmy John’s delivered even though it’s right down the street, and I cry to my mom when life gets the best of me. I am far from having it all together and am not using this column to try to tell you what to do, rather, I want to learn about people, their struggles and how I can help. Who else is better to learn about and help than my darling North Parkers? My life has been all over the place since the day I was born and I feel like giving advice is a way I can re-purpose my past and the experiences I’ve been through to give others a direction toward growth as individuals.
When we usually think about giving advice to someone, we think to say “you know what you should do…?” or “do you know what I would do?” and begin to ramble on with our unsolicited opinions. I plan to speak the truth––like maybe you should consider managing your time and studying for that physics exam instead of sitting in ARA for two hours swiping on Tinder.
I hope you'll all read what your fellow North Parkers have to ask and what I’ve got to say. I promise you won’t be disappointed! Just kidding––that was a lie; sometimes the truth hurts. I won’t tell you what you want to hear; I want to provide you with advice you actually want, need and will take. I will be blunt with you and I will wash away sugarcoats your friends sprinkle on your problems. I want to use this column to give you guys a chance to anonymously ask a peer (me) any questions you may have. These questions can be anything––large, small, funny or serious.
Keep in mind these questions are ANONYMOUS, so you can ask more than one question if you like. Please submit your questions online by going to the link below:
Looking forward to hearing from you all!
